¡Hola!

My name is Micaela, but I go by Mica (pronounced Mee-kah).

I’m a self-taught illustrator who loves bringing stories to life through whimsical and magical illustrations. My art is inspired by nature, enchanting creatures, and the magic inside everyday adventures.

From a young age, I was encouraged by my parents to express my creativity through drawing, painting and through diverse artistic crafts. While I was at school, I took three years of Japanese manga illustration courses and one year of Chinese painting technique ‘Gongbi’ classes, which gave me a strong foundation and have allowed me to continue learning and developing my art independently ever since.

I mostly work digitally with Procreate app on Ipad, while for traditional media I love working with watercolors, gouache, and colored pencils.

In 2016, I published my first Children’s Book (independently), and have continued to independently publish a few stories in English and Spanish, with one of my most recent published works being: Pigs Can’t Ice Skate - Los Cerdos no pueden patinar

I grew up in Argentina, and my mother tongue is Spanish. As a language enthusiast, I also speak English and French, and a bit of Swedish (unfortunately, my Japanese and my Chinese are rusty!). I’m also an adult figure skater and dog lover!
